Walking in Devotion and Unity

The Pandharpur Wari – The Great Pilgrimage exhibition, curated by Parvez Damania and Ratan Luth, was a grand visual tribute to one of Maharashtra’s most revered traditions.

Supported by the Maharashtra Tourism Department, the event beautifully captured the spirit of Wari, an 800-year-old pilgrimage where millions of devotees walk hundreds of kilometers to reach the sacred town of Pandharpur, paying homage to Lord Vithoba.

This spiritual odyssey is a symbol of faith, unity, and resilience, cutting across social barriers and bringing people together through devotion and shared purpose.

Framing the Spirit of Wari

Framing the Spirit of Wari

I, Pranav Deo, had the honor of being an integral part of this remarkable showcase. My photograph was selected as the cover image for the entire exhibition — featured prominently on the main exhibition poster, official invite, newspaper articles, and promotional materials.

This recognition was not just an achievement but a deeply fulfilling moment, as my lens captured the very essence of the pilgrimage — its energy, emotions, and sheer devotion. Seeing my work represent such a monumental cultural event was truly surreal.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Raj Thackeray, whose presence added an air of distinction to the event. His keen appreciation for the cultural and spiritual significance of the Wari made the occasion even more memorable.

An Experience Beyond Words

An Experience Beyond Words

Being part of an exhibition that brought the heart of the Wari to life — while receiving recognition at such a prestigious level — has been one of the most rewarding milestones of my career. Showcasing my work alongside Padma Shri awardee Sudharak Olwe was an achievement I deeply cherish.

The presence of dignitaries such as Vishwas Nangare Patil, an accomplished IPS officer, and Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai, a renowned author, further elevated the event’s significance.

Their admiration underscored the universal resonance of the Wari, which transcends religious boundaries and stands as a timeless testament to Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage.

Following the main exhibition, the showcase was also presented at Mantralaya, the administrative headquarters of Maharashtra.

During a press conference, then Chief Minister Eknath Shinde publicly admired the photographs, commending their ability to convey the emotional depth, devotion, and vibrancy of the Wari pilgrimage. This recognition from the highest office in the state made the experience even more meaningful.
